About Process Metrix
Process Metrix (PMC) principals have a
20-year history of instrumentation development for
process industries and organizations world wide.
“Our dedication to research and development has given us
the ability to place instruments in almost any
environment. With a continuing effort to develop
advanced sensor technologies for a wide array of
markets, Process Metrix has become an industry leader in
laser-based process instrumentation”
---Dr. Don Holve, Partner
Currently, Process Metrix offers the following
particle measurement technologies:
History
Innovation Through Customer and Market
Need.
Process
Metrix founder/partners have between them 75 man-years
of experience in instrumentation development and process
implementation. Using this basis of experiences, PMC
has and continues to develop new measurement instruments
for industrial measurement and control. This has been an
evolutionary process, where a concept along with
customer need has often led to new ideas in
unanticipated ways. We have learned that the proper
operational interface for process applications is as
important as the fundamental instrument technology.
Process
Metrix has written many successful proposals to the
major government agencies (DOE, DOD, NSF, NASA, EPA, NIH,
AISI). This funding initiates proof-of-concept for
ideas, many of which have been turned into commercial
operational instruments. Following development of basic
prototypes, we have worked with numerous companies (e.g.
IBM, Mobil Oil, Chevron, US Steel, Exxon, Merck, Canon,
HP, etc.) on customized adaptations, or hybrids of our
instrumentation for specific application needs. We have
a balanced appreciation for the fundamental physics that
dictate the real limitations for optical instruments,
along with the need for simple operational interfaces in
real production environments.
Process
Metrix can help improve your productivity through
intelligent applications analysis and systems
development:
The
principals and staff of Process Metrix will continue
developing new applications for a variety of process
industries today and in the future.
The Principals
PMC was
founded by four engineers who have been working together
as a group within various business entities since 1987:
Dr. Don
Holve is a Partner and Director of Research and
Development at PMC. He was the president and founder of
INSITEC (1986 - 1999). He obtained an M.Sc. in
Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, University
of London, 1969, and a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering,
Univ. of Calif,
Berkeley,
1974. He has published more than 40 papers in the fields
of combustion and optical diagnostics, has authored
invited review papers on single particle counters, and
has been an invited lecturer at academic and industrial
particle sizing short courses.
Mr. Tom
Harvill is a Partner and Chief Engineer of PMC. He
obtained his M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering
at Stanford University (1986). He has designed the PCSV,
EPCS, and TESS systems, and has developed most of the
software and hardware control systems for all of PMC’s
instrumentation . He has field experience in applying
all PMC technologies.
Dr.
Mike Bonin is the Managing Partner and Director of Sales
and Marketing at PMC. He obtained his Masters degree in
Mechanical Engineering (1988) and a Ph.D. degree in
Mechanical Engineering (1992) from Brigham Young
University in Provo, Utah. Dr. Bonin is responsible of
the majority of the hardware design for all PMC
instrumentation, and has extensive field experience in
the application of all of PMC’s instrumentation with
emphasis on instrumentation solutions for the steel
industry.
Mr.
Jared Hoog is a Partner and Director of Service and
Support for PMC. Mr. Hoog provides world-wide
installation and post-installation support for all PMC
instrumentation. He also has designed most of the
electronics systems and has intimate working knowledge
of each of PMC’s instruments.
